Winchester

Welcome to Winchester!

The Las Vegas valley is home to several growing cities, including Henderson, Pahrump and North Las Vegas. But few valley residents know that several small "cities" lie within Las Vegas itself, including Winchester, Spring Valley and Paradise. These tiny towns blend seamlessly into the streets of Las Vegas, but they actually are unincorporated parts of Clark County.
More than 27,000 people live in Winchester, but many of them may not even know it! Their mail bears a Las Vegas postmark, but they don't have a city council or government of their own.
Winchester is a 5-square-mile area roughly bordered by Sahara on the north, Desert Inn on the south, Decatur on the west and Boulder Highway on the east. It began as an offshoot of the town of Paradise, which was created in 1950.
In April 1951, the town of "Paradise A" was created, followed by "Paradise B" in January 1952. In 1953, the towns were renamed again: Paradise A became "Winchester," while Paradise "B" was regained the moniker "Paradise."
Both the Strip and McCarran International Airport are located near Winchester — in fact, 96 percent of the "Las Vegas Strip" actually lies in this unincorporated community of Paradise. Residents enjoy close proximity to these attractions as well as all the amenities their larger "sister city" has to offer.

Community

Homes in Winchester are a mix of older and newer styles. Many date back to the 1960s and '70s. A variety of housing options exist, from apartments and condos to single-family homes and a few luxury houses.

Amenities

Winchester residents share many amenities with residents of surrounding Las Vegas. UNLV and the Las Vegas National Golf Course are located nearby, along with several parks and other recreational facilities.
Winchester is home to shops, restaurants, casinos and entertainment venues. Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 93/95 provide easy access to other locations in the Las Vegas valley.
